Every great product has someone who bridges the gap between what clients need and what technology can deliver. At INSTINCT, that person is Harry Pears.
In asset and wealth management, month-end reporting is often the most stressful part of the job. Factsheets, separate account reporting, quarterly and annual private markets reports, capital account statements the list goes on. Each comes with unique templates, data sources, and client expectations. Historically, this meant long nights, rigid vendor timelines, and complex manual workarounds. But that’s no longer acceptable. Not when technology can scale better than teams ever could.
The Bridge Between Clients and Technology Harry is the conduit between client and market requirements, and our design and engineering teams, translating complex needs into simple, elegant product solutions. His role is all about listening, connecting, and making sure that Instinct’s software continues to evolve in a way that delivers genuine impact for asset and wealth managers.
“Technology should never exist for its own sake,” Harry says. “It should solve real problems for real users and make their working lives easier.”
Career Snapshot Before joining Instinct, Harry spent nearly nine years at Altus Group, where he progressed from support and implementation to technical product management.
There, he specialised in data management and reporting solutions for the commercial real estate sector, experience that gave him a deep understanding of how complex data-driven industries operate.
At Instinct, that experience translates directly into how we build and refine our reporting platform, with a focus on performance, scalability and user experience.
Leading Product and Design at Instinct Today, Harry leads Instinct’s product and design teams, owning the product roadmap and ensuring we continually deliver value to clients.
He works hand-in-hand with our commercial and engineering teams, aligning market needs with technical execution. His focus is not just on adding new functionality, but on improving every aspect of how clients experience the platform.
“Our goal is to remove friction,” Harry explains. “From data upload to report delivery, every step should feel seamless.”
How Harry Helps Clients
Harry’s approach is rooted in empathy. He listens carefully to understand client pain points, and helps design solutions that genuinely improve processes, rather than simply replicating old workflows with new tools.
He’s passionate about making our clientsclients’ lives more efficient, their processes more transparent, and the platform more enjoyable for the people who use it every day.
That’s why so many of Instinct’s improvements start not in a design meeting, but in a conversation with clients.
Outside the Office
Away from the product roadmap, Harry can usually be found on a trail or in a vineyard. He’s a keen runner, always looking for the next race, and an enthusiastic supporter of the English wine industry.
When winter sets in, he swaps running shoes for a pub quiz team, where his “moderate success” hasn’t dampened his competitive streak.
In Harry’s Words “The best feedback we get is when clients say they trust our platform completely, because that means we’ve done our job. Good design should feel invisible. It should just work.”
At Instinct, Harry’s drive for simplicity and empathy is what keeps our technology and our relationships moving forward.
